Description:

Fenghuang Dancong Tea, one of the six major types of Oolong tea, is a traditional and historically renowned Chinese tea. The core production area is Wudong Mountain in Fenghuang Town, Chaozhou City, Guangdong Province.

Lan Hua Xiang (Orchid Fragrance) is one of the ten major fragrances in Dancong tea. The raw materials for this tea are harvested from the core production area of Wudong Village, covering a thousand acres of original ecological tea gardens (including a 300-acre ancient tea garden). The tea trees grow at an average altitude of 1000 meters. The unique geographical environment nurtures the distinctive characteristics of Dancong tea—fragrance, richness, sweetness, and charm.

The tea leaves are all harvested from 100% pure spring tea, with a once-a-year harvest cycle. The crafting of Wudong Dancong is led by Master Wen Zhen, the chief tea maker at the state-owned Wudong Old Tea Factory, who represents more than 700 years of tea-making heritage across generations. Chinese tea is classified into six major categories based on processing techniques, and the production process of Phoenix Dancong is the most intricate among them.

The process involves seven main steps: picking, sun-withering, air-withering, shaping, fixation, rolling, and roasting. The tea dried through roasting is commonly referred to as "mao cha" (rough tea). After meticulous selection and additional roasting, the finished tea, known as "jing zhi cha" (refined tea), is ready for circulation and consumption.

High-quality refined Dancong teas often undergo charcoal roasting (usually with secondary and tertiary roasting) to enhance the flavor and improve storage durability. An example is Zong Xian Dancong, which undergoes a triple-charcoal roasting process.
